Bespoke leather wallet

For this commission the customer asked if I could copy the size and layout of their existing wallet as closely as possible.

I borrowed the original and measured up to make an accurate pattern. To match the original wallet (which was very thin) every leather piece needed to be hand skived to the correct thickness. The smooth, strong, fine grained goat leather from Le Prevo in Newcastle was perfect to make the finished wallet sturdy and slim.

The lining was a very understated brown to match the leather, though I do offer many other colours/prints on request. A strong drill fabric was used for the coin pocket to increase durability.

Bespoke leather card wallet

Here’s a bespoke leather wallet item made for a customer who wanted to replicate the exact same features and layout of a well-used wallet.

There’s a total of nine card slots, with a concealed ID window. I also included a notes pocket divider and adjusted the over all height and width to match the original wallet more closely. The wallet was hand cut from black and purple cow hide (from Walter Reginald Ltd. in London) and fully lined with bright multicolour stripe print cotton lining. Finally it was carefully machine stitched with durable bonded nylon thread and the edges were hand sealed for durability.

Custom Wallet Remakes

Customers often contact me to ask if I can make a copy of an existing wallet. Above is a bespoke leather wallet created for such a project. I borrowed the original wallet, measured up and cut a pattern by hand, including a few design alterations on request. All the pieces of the custom wallet design were hand cut from a combination of sheep nappa, cow hide and cotton lawn lining. After gluing the pieces in place the wallet was expertly machine stitched together. The finished item gave a solution to a long, and previously fruitless search for a replacement.

The leather was supplied by Le Prevo Limited in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the lining was a discovery at The Fent Shop in Skipton.

Bespoke Trucker Wallet
